For many years, a dedicated group of Minnesotans has been discussing and working toward the creation of a broad-based nonprofit Center dedicated to the study, preservation and celebration of Irish culture in all of its many forms. During that time, the primary objective has been identifying, acquiring and furnishing a centrally-located facility that could serve as the Center’s year-round base of operations in Minnesota. In early 2009, a new nonprofit organization known as the Minnesota Irish Cultural Center was formed to help achieve that long-awaited goal. Recent efforts have focused on investigating and analyzing a potential site located along the St. Paul/Minneapolis border, near the intersection of Como Avenue and Highway 280. A related objective of the Minnesota Irish Cultural Center is to serve as a resource and “information clearinghouse” for the local Irish community -- and for anyone interested in learning more about Ireland’s history, arts and traditions. We therefore encourage you to use this web site as your local “gateway to Ireland” as you celebrate Irish culture on St. Patrick’s Day or on any other day of the year!
